Power Outage

3/28/2015

If a power outage occurs, please inform management, and contact Dominion Power directly (866-366-4357) for more efficient service.  Dominion has an automated service that often associates the phone number on file with the address of the account to help them pinpoint issues more readily. The service also gives an option to receive updates to the phone number provided, if requested.

Please note that the Association does not provide lockout services.  Our entry systems do not work during a power outage.  Residents should be mindful to make arrangements to have access to a building key at all times upon exit in the event of any entry system malfunction. Please also note that Unit owners are responsible for the electrical system that serves the individual unit.

*Hot water out in all buildings

3/15/2015

*UPDATE: Hot water and gas have been fully restored.

Details follow in chronological order:

Washington Gas turned the gas main off in Building 30 on Sunday (3/15) after investigating a report by a resident of a gas smell. As a result, WG cut off the gas to the hot water heaters housed in 30 for all of the buildings without ascertaining the cause of the smell. For safety reasons, the gas cannot be turned back on in Bldg 30 until the cause of the gas smell is determined, which means that there will be no hot water to ALL buildings until the common areas and all units in 30 are appropriately inspected.

Buildings 20, 22, 24, 26 still have gas available for stoves and gas dryers; just no hot water.  Building 30 has no gas available at all.

Residents in 30 should contact AMV immediately to provide all possible contact info/any updated info.  Owners/residents are in process of being contacted.  Access must be provided to the units in 30 in order to address the concern and restore the hot water as quickly as possible. Any units in 30 with older gas stoves that may have a pilot light, as opposed to electronic ignition, will also have to be inspected before the gas to 30 can be turned back on.

UPDATE:  Hot water may occur sporadically on Monday as they work through a solution to reinstate the gas. Hot water is expected to be restored fully on Tuesday, barring any unforeseen events.

UPDATE:  (Tues.) Hot water has been restored via a bypass. Gas for stoves and dryers remains off in 30.

UPDATE: Tomorrow (3/18), the gas will be turned on to begin testing the gas lines in Building 30.  Residents/owners in 30 (especially any with older gas stoves with pilot lights) should make themselves readily available via the contact information they have provided in the event that workers need access to the units.  Older gas stoves with pilot lights, as opposed to electronic ignition, must be professionally inspected.  If gas were to be detected, the gas main to the stoves and dryers would again be shut off in Building 30.  In the event that gas is detected, units additionally may be ventilated by opening the kitchen windows.

Please make sure gas ovens/stoves in Building 30 remain off until further notice. This process could take a few days to ensure that the gas can be safely turned on.  Thank you for your patience.

UPDATE: Workers will continue testing gas lines in the lower levels (boiler, basement, crawlspaces) on Thursday 3/19) to ensure that there are no active leaks.

On Friday (3/20/15) from approximately 12pm-3pm, only residents/owners who have stoves/ovens with a pilot light will be contacted in order to gain access to their units.
They anticipate turning the gas back on permanently by late Friday afternoon (3/20/15), barring unexpected events.

UPDATE:  Gas has been restored to all units in Building 30, as of Friday, 3/20/15. Residents are asked to report any possible issues to Engelking/AMV.
